New Beauty Hacks

Hello, my dear friends! Thank you for visiting my new site, it is still a work-in-progress but I hope it will become one of those sites that you frequent for inspiration on style, beauty, even travel sometimes.

With the very first post of 2018, I want to share with you a few beauty products I've tried and kept using in 2017. They are my go-to beauty hacks for good skin and polished presence. I believe to look one's best, great skin condition as well as (very) simple makeup should come before any clothing we dress ourselves into.

TULA Probiotic Skin Care

I was given the Tula set to try last August. My five-month test drive with this set has been wonderful. I see great improvement in my skin texture and tone. You can read more about it in my review post. For winter time, I'd recommend their basic care set if you have normal to oily skin, and the Kefir Pressed Serum for dry skin. You can now get 20% off by using my code "HOLLY20" during check out on their site.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask & Dior Addict Lip Glow

One area of our face where we experience frequent dryness but often overlook, is our lips. Lips are also an area aging shows prominently. For the past 18 month, I've been using Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and it was a God-sent. Never for one day since I began to use it, had I any chapped lips. When my son was having a cold during fall, his upper lip was pretty cracked. I used this lip sleeping mask on him, he was all "repaired" after just two nights. During the day, I also use a little bit as the base of my lipstick, it helps a lot to prevent my lips from flaking.  This one little jar (20g) lasted me over 18 months and I still have about 1/4 of them left from the original bottle.

As wonderful as the lip mask is, the container is not travel friendly. The mask is also colorless. For on-the-go lip care, I use Dior Addict Lip Glow. It is very moisturizing and comes in several shades that will give your lips just a little tint. If you are not a lipstick / lip gloss person, or when you just need the moisture with just a little color, Dior Addict Lip Glow would be a great fit.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse & Clarins Double Serum

Both of them are skin oils made in French laboratories. I've been using the NUXE oil on my body for over five years now. I found that using it alone doesn't keep my skin hydrated enough but when I mix it with regular body lotion, it does the job well. I always have a small bottle with me when I travel and keep the bigger bottle at home.

Clarins Double Serum is an anti-aging facial oil. I started using it daily since last August and I am about 80% through my first bottle. It gives me the best result when the air is not too dry. In the recent month because the air is a lot drier, I use it every other day, alternating with the Tula Kefir pressed serum. If you are interested, you can also read my full review on this facial oil.

Chanel Palette Essensstielle & Rouge Allure luminous Intense Lip Colour

2017 for me is a year of highlight, I mean learning how to use highlighter to create a glowing look. Highlight is now part of my daily routine. Over the year, I've used a few highlighters, my current favorite is the Chanel Palette Essenttielle. It is the best because it has all three essentials of everyday needs: concealer, blush and highlighter. There are three shades of concealer/blush combo to choose from, I am using #150 light beige which is on fair side but works very well to cover dark spots and brighten areas of the face.

2017 is also the year of red. I've been using lot of bright red lip stick lately. Chanel Rouge Allure Lip Stick has always been one of my go-to, this limited edition one in bright red and slightly golden shimmer is definitely a winner.

Lacome X Olympia Le Tan Palette, Limited Edition

Because of blogging and events, I have to wear full makeup a couple of times a week. My experiences with eye makeup are pretty even. This Lancome makeup palette is special because it is a limited edition with Olympia Le Tan, a handbag designer known for hand-embroderied bags. The package itself is a collector's item. The color palette is perfect for an everyday pink look.

If you prefer a more neutral one, I'd recommend this Healthy Glow Eyeshadow Palette by Chanel. It has the perfect colors for a barely-there, glowing look.
